I was a big fan of Anchorman for so long. The jokes were vulgar yet great, it had a charmed that I remember, and the conflict of these characters really made it entertaining to watch.
So when I heard all the hype about the sequel, I got eager. The trailers were well done and I had fairly high expectations. The effort went all the way to deserve being a great sequel. As far as plot, the original one is better. Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues dvdrip movie.
Women can be offended. Media personalities can be offended when the big fight in the park is portrayed in poor taste. Animal lovers can be offended, when they see Ferrell in love with a small shark and the way he treats his dog, Baxter. People with Autism or Mental Retardation can be offended, although the always reliable and well-meaning Steve Carell does have sensitivity for his naive weatherman character, Brick Tamland, and so does Kristen Wiig as his equally naive colleague and love interest Chani Lastname.
Worst of all, people with learning disabilities can be offended, and Will has the one line that can really upset and hurt those either with the disabilities, or those with family members who have the disabilities or teachers and therapists who work with students with special needs. This movie has a bigger ad campaign with all four lead actors who make their ads funnier than the movie itself. Will Ferrell and Steve Carell, the front men of the four, have often promoted their movies with ads funnier than many of their movies themselves.
Paul Rudd, a comic actor who likes to choose movies with the most raucous senses of humor, and David Koechner, a close buddy of the other three, are second in hand.
Ferrell is most irritating. To make this long two-hour movie short, the plot goes as Ron Burgundy and Veronica Corningstone move to New York, marry, and have a young son named Walter, as of course in Cronkite. Harrison Ford, who is sadly wasted and looks like he has much better to do, is the bigwig who fires him and hires her for a top local TV spot in the city.
He goes back to San Diego, is fired from his job at Sea World, and recruits all of his old friends from his gig from his local news station — the ebullient sportscaster Champ Kind Koechner , the correspondent and ladies man Brian Fantana Rudd , and the bumbling and not-too-bright Brick Tamland Carell.
They ride all the way to the east coast, and once they get there, because of their unprofessional news methods, have to work the late shift of the hour Global News Network, or what is known as GNN. Burgundy is most competitive to the point of egoism and he likes to shout on the air and report the news his way, thus neglecting his wife and son.
Only fate brings him back together with his family, but not in a nice way. The other saving grace of this movie is Kristen Wiig, who often works with Steve Carell very well.
She has a few funny scenes with him and they fall in love.
